There Is A Formula, A Recipe, For Success In The College Admissions Process

Have you ever wanted a guaranteed acceptance, for you or a loved one, to some of the best colleges and universities? Have you ever thought to yourself, “Is there a formula?” If so, then you have stumbled into the right blog because I am going to teach you all that there is to know, all of the tips and tricks to the college admissions process that will ensure that your family is not only set up for success in the college admissions process, but the detail in this series of posts will virtually guarantee your spot at a top 100 college or university. How high they can shoot in that top 100 will be up to the applicant in question and their admissions enrollment strategy, which depends on varying factors that we will unpack as we walk on this journey together. Regardless, I am here to tell you, to show you, that there is a formula for college admissions success that almost guarantees your family admission to some of the country’s best colleges and universities. Why “almost guarantee” all a sudden? Well I’m sorry to share that if you get lots of C’s or D’s and you follow my equation to the letter, that your likelihood of receiving an offer of admission from an institution ranked in the top 100 is low, but that’s okay;, because there are still colleges out there that are still just as good and just as wonderful as one’s ranked in the top 100. With that being said, let’s get started.

The 7 Evaluative Mastery Categories of the College Admission Process

There are 7 main categories that I am going to be writing about in this series that will prepare your family for the rigors of the college application, college review and college admission committee processes, all of which have their nuances. Each of these seven categories have their own subcategories that create and make up the fluency, score or the extent of mastery of the main categories. These main categories are as follows:

  1. Academic Achievement

  2. Intellectual Curiosity

  3. Academic Potential

  4. Writing/Personal Fit

  5. Communication

  6. Extracurricular Achievement/Community Engagement

  7. Student Agency/ Student Initiative

These 7 categories are not ranked in any particular order and there is no category that is necessarily more important than another. That might be hard to believe but each component, before the review process takes hold, has no more significant value than another when comparing their value to any other categories of evaluation. Now, after the review process takes place there may be a category or two that “rise to the top” for that file or applicant for both positive and negative reasons, however these are going to vary on the per applicant level. This is why an admissions enrollment strategist at times could be useful in terms of strengthening and maximizing each of these categories through the lens of who that applicant truly is, understanding their strengths and weaknesses, and then utilizing that knowledge in context to render a candidacy that expounds upon value while diminishing concerns (all of which contextualizes the institutions the applicant is applying to and can change depending on each school the applicant applies to - no this is not redundant, these are different from each other).

Unveiling the College Admissions Process

My goal, since I started working in highly selective college admissions and college counseling, has always been to be there for families and for students to make the college process easier, clearer and less stressful. To make the college admissions process from researching colleges to visiting colleges to applying to college evoke excitement and happiness not perceptualize anxiety and angst. That’s why I founded my organization, Kallege, because I believe that all people deserve access to the college admissions process and to deeply comprehend the tips and tricks to being admitted to the best college or university for them. That no matter who they are, the grades they have received or what they have (or these days, haven’t) accomplished that they too bring beautiful and amazing things to the table; and to highlight to colleges and universities the intrinsic value each student will have on their campus and who they have the potential to become after they graduate. Be sure to subscribe to my blog so that you don’t miss a post! You can find me on social media as well at kallegeadmissionscounseling. I hope to post later today (likely around 5pm PDT) starting with #1 on my list, academic achievement. In the meantime, feel free to check out my website that has tons of great resources and links to all of my social media accounts! See you soon friends!
