People have often said there isn’t a formula for you to use or follow to be admitted into college. I fundamentally disagree, there is a formula… now the formula doesn’t always add up for an applicant for various reasons such as institutional priorities, but generally if you follow these best practices you or your child are almost guaranteed admission into many amazing colleges and universities in the United States.
The informal name for this blog is called. “The College Admissions Cookbook: Not Everyone’s Slice of Cake,” because there are certainly times you will have the perfect student and they won’t or weren’t admitted to the nation’s best schools, but the goal of this blog is to truly unveil admissions process that gives every single family the tools they need to see success in the college admissions process within the various levels of selectivity; it also serves as a guide to explain why “perfect” students aren’t or weren’t admitted to the nation’s best colleges and universities.
What gives me the ability and credibility to speak on this? I worked in highly selectively college admissions at Haverford College and over the last 3 years the students I have worked with have been admitted to the best colleges in the country. Yes, the students I have worked with have been admitted to every National University ranked within the top 50 and every National Liberal Arts College ranked in the top 39 (with the exception of the military academies — students I worked with never traditionally applied to the air force and naval academies). The rankings I am abiding by are the college rankings on U.S. News and World Report.
